Why do I need several different access credentials?

When installing WebAsyst scripts on a web-hosting server, you have to deal with a large number of several interfaces which require input of different access credentials for your account or the server. The purpose of those interfaces is described in brief in this article.

WebAsyst account

This is a page which you open in a web browser (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, or Chrome) to use WebAsyst applications (Files, Photos, Contacts, the administrative backend of Shop-Script, etc.). To log in to your WebAsyst account, enter a URL of the form http://WEBASYST_INSTALLATION_URL/login/ in the browser address bar (e.g., http://mydomain.com/login/) and type your user name and password on the page which will open.

If you do not remember your access credentials, click the "Forgot password?" link, and it will be immediately emailed to you.

ADMINISTRATOR account

The ADMINISTRATOR account is used for user management in WebAsyst and emergency password recovery, if you fail to recover your account password as described above. To log in to the ADMINISTRATOR account, enter a URL of the form http://WEBASYST_INSTALLATION_URL/login/ in the browser address bar (e.g., http://mydomain.com/login/) and type ADMINISTRATOR as the user name and the password for that account in the "Password" field.

If you do not remember access credentials for the ADMINISTRATOR account, use our the password recovery instructions.

WebAsyst Installer

This web page is used to manage the main system parameters of WebAsyst. To log in to WebAsyst Installer, enter a URL of the form http://WEBASYST_INSTALLATION_URL/installer/ in the browser address bar (e.g., http://mydomain.com/installer/) and type a user name and a password on that page.

Note: access credentials for WebAsyst Installer are not necessarily the same as those for your WebAsyst account. To ensure better safety of your data, use different "user name/password" pairs.
If you do not remember access credentials for WebAsyst Installer, follow the password replacement instructions for Installer.

Web-hosting control panel

Web hosting is a service of providing space for websites on specially designed and configured computers — web servers. To manage files, databases, email accounts, and other kinds of information related to a website, a special protected web page is used, which is called a control panel. Access credentials for the control panel (URL, user name, and password) are provided to the website owner by the web-hosting administrator.

If you do not remember access credentials for the web-hosting control panel, contact your hosting company support service.

FTP and database connection

Installed WebAsyst scripts consist of multiple files and a database. For remote file management (uploading files to the server, downloading, editing, renaming files, etc.), access through the FTP protocol is used by means of a special piece of software – an FTP client.

Connection to a database is established by the programming code contained in WebAsyst files. Connection parameters are specified on a special page during the installation of WebAsyst scripts. To change those parameters, use WebAsyst Installer .

Tip: To view or manually edit a database, you may use an appropriate tool in the web-hosting control panel (e.g., phpMyAdmin or a similar interface).
If you do not remember FTP or database connection parameters, contact your hosting company support service.
