Cannot see file .htaccess over FTP

Some FTP clients do not display hidden files by default. When connecting to a remote server using one of such FTP clients, you can not see file .htaccess or also other files whose names begin with a dot, e.g. .ftpaccess or .wbs_protect. If you are using FileZilla as an FTP client, enable option "Server -> Force showing hidden files" in the main menu to view such files.

In order to display hidden files in other FTP clients please refer to their respective user manuals. Displaying hidden files is, as a rule, supported by file managers in control panels of most popular web hosting companies, e.g. in cPanel.
