Tips on receiving customer requests from gmail.com

Some mail servers allow you (or even require, like gmail.com) to use secure connection to receive emails. Such connections are established using an SSL certificate installed on the mail server and ensure strong protection of your data (i.e. email messages), transferred over the Internet, from third parties.

To use SSL connections with WebAsyst Help Desk, specify appropriate credentials in your email box settings (in "Settings -> Email boxes") provided by the mail server administrator. As a rule, a different port number is used for secure connections; i.e. port 143 or 995 (e.g., with gmail.com accounts) rather than 110, which is mainly used for regular non-protected POP3 connections.

Note: If WebAsyst Help Desk is installed on your own server or on a web-hosting server, it must support remote SSL connections. For that purpose the OpenSSL extension for PHP must be installed and enabled on the server.
