Setting up issues view filters

By default WebAsyst Issue Tracker displays all issues created within the selected task and project. If the issue list is very long, you can sometimes feel the necessity to limit the displayed list to several issues satisfying certain conditions:

  • all issues assigned to yourself;
  • all issues assigned to yourself during the past 3 days;
  • only completed issues assigned by yourself to a certain user.

Filtering conditions similar to the above examples may greatly vary and depend on your current needs and each project being managed. Such filtering conditions can be easily set up for convenient viewing of the issue list using WebAsyst Issue Tracker.

Note: WebAsyst Issue Tracker offers several default filters that are supposed meet the everyday needs of most users. If none of the default filters is suitable for your project, read further about how to create your own filter.

Creating a filter to view the desired issues

  1. Click on menu item "Filters...->Add Filter".
  2. On the page that opens specify the required properties of the issues to be displayed with this filter selected:
    • select the user who has created the filtered issues, the user who changed their status last and the user the filtered out issues are assigned to;
    • choose what issues statuses should be displayed;
    • choose whether only issues created within the past several days or before a certain period should be filtered out or issues created on any date should be displayed;
    • specify whether "forgotten" issues should be displayed;
    • "Forgotten" are the issues that have not been forwarded for more than the specified number of days. Enter the desired number of days to make the filter display "forgotten" issues.
    • Enter the word or phrase that should be contained in the descriptions of the issues to be displayed (e.g. you may need to view the list of issues containing string "SMS" or "auto");
    • enter a name for your filter; a good name will help you quickly find the necessary filter in the list.
  3. Complete the filter creation by clicking on the "Save" button.

An example of filter creation

Suppose you sometimes need to view only issues created by a user "Jim Harrison" that are assigned to user "Larry Goodman", displayed issues should not be completed and should have been created during the past 7 days. Descriptions of the displayed issues should contain the "SMS" acronym.

An example of such a filter setup is displayed in the picture below:

Once you have created a filter, click on its name in the filter list on the left to view all issues satisfying its conditions.
