Error "file ... already exists and is write protected" during WebAsyst update

During automated update WebAsyst Installer downloads an archive with source code files from the WebAsyst update server. Upon extraction its contents are moved to the WebAsyst directory, existing files are automatically replaced. If the web server lacks sufficient permissions to update those files, the following diagnostic message may appear in your browser:

file ... already exists and is write protected

Instead of the ellipsis the message will contain the path to the file or directory which cannot be replaced. To eliminate the problem, assign sufficient permissions to all WebAsyst files and directories that would allow the web server to modify their contents. Use FTP or SSH connection or the file manager of your web hosting control panel to change permissions.

Tip: If you fail to change permissions using an FTP client try the web hosting file manager and vice versa.
